2010 Western Australian Oaks Final Field

April 13th, 2010

This Saturday, one of the most prestigious races on the Perth racing calendar will take place at the Ascot Racecourse, in the Group 3 Western Australian Oaks (2400m).

While Sydney hosts the illustrious Super Saturday, eight fantastic three-year-old fillies will compete over the staying distance, all hoping to get a share in the $250,000 prize money.

Not A Single Mak, locally trained by Wally Mitchell will start from barrier one, while out wide will be Heavenly Divine – who should not struggle over the longer distance.

Coming into the 2010 WA Oaks as a favourite to win is For Your Eyes Only.

Coming into the 2010 WA Oaks as a favourite to win is For Your Eyes Only.

The Paul Jordan-trained filly recently won the Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m), where she defeated fellow starters for Saturday’s race – Significant and Not A Single Mak who finished third and fourth respectively.

Winner of the Natasha Stakes (2200m) – Impressive Jeuney is another contender. The Ascot-based filly defeated Tropical Fury and Significant in the race – both of whom are starting on Saturday.

With such a relatively small field, the 2010 WA Oaks will no doubt be a thrilling race on the track, providing a great result on Saturday.

Also taking place at Ascot, will be the $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m).
