Local filly, Impressive Jeuney dominated the field for the $250,000 Group 3 Western Australian Oaks (2400m) on Saturday at Perth’s Ascot Racecourse.

One of eight races to take place, the 2010 Western Australian Oaks saw eight three-year-old fillies fight for the title.

It was a one-horse affair as the Darren McAuliffe-trained Impressive Jeuney lived up to expectations.

The filly went into the race as favourite, and did not disappoint leading from the jump and increasing her win in the final 600 metres after Shaun O’Donnell upped the ante.

Broccoletta, trained by Len Morton did well to finish in second spot almost three lengths behind the winner, with Tropical Fury – another favourite, clinging on for third.

The impressive filly may now be entered into the $500,000 Group 1 WATC Derby (2400m) on Saturday to see if she can mix it with the males.

Also taking place on Saturday alongside the 2010 Western Australian Oaks was the $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) which saw local filly Motion Pictures edge out favourite and Victorian-based Miss Gai Flyer in an impressive race.
